Sri Lanka: Weerawansa’s vehicle ‘donation’

( January 11, 2017, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) It was revealed yesterday (10th) how former Minister of Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities Wimal Weerawansa, who was remanded on charges of misusing several vehicles belonging to the presidential secretariat during Mahinda Rajapaksa regime had distributed vehicles maintained by the state to his associates, relatives, leaders of the NFF – his political party, wives of those leaders, communalist organizations and priests of those organizations to carry out their daily affairs.

It was from ‘B’ report filed by the FCID when Mr. Weerawansa was brought before Court yesterday.

The accused had also made available, in the same manner to his associates, relatives, leaders of NFF houses built to be given to middle class families at very low prices than their estimated prices.
