Fowzia opposes release of Afridi sans repatriation of Aafia
( February 9, 2017, Lahore, Sri Lanka Guardian) Aafia Movement Pakistan leader and noted nuerophysician of Pakistan Dr Fowzia Siddiqui has said that whole Pakistani nation is worried about the news of Pakistani and American media that the government of Pakistan is reportedly preparing to hand over the national traitor Dr Shakil Afridi to the United States of America. Trying to take cover from courts for vested interests as is Raymond Davis case is an insult to the courts and blackening stigma on the judiciary and chief justice should take notice. Why all legal binds for innocent Pakistanis and all legal loopholes open for traitors, murderers and corrupt influential?
Addressing a crowded press conference at the Lahore Press Club (LPC) here Wednesday, she asked if Tariq Fatemi and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif were on the same page regarding the issue of Dr Aafia Siddiqui. She said Aafia Siddiqui is also a daughter, adding Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif himself has daughters and he knows that there should be not discrimination when it the matter of our daughters.
On the occasion, Aafia Movement Lahore chapter leader Hafiz Muhammad Zubair, lucky marwat chapter Inamullah Khan, Pakistan Millat Party President Brig (retd) Muhammad Yousuf, chairman Pakistan Milli Ittehad Party Major (retd) Faisal Naseer and other were present.
Dr Fowzia said that according to a report of an American news channel, Pakistani government has ignored Dr Aafia Siddiqui a matter of National honor and dignity, and a matter of constitutional right and Islamic duty. Unfortunately the rulers are taking steps as per their vested interests. She said the Pakistani nation unanimously considers Shakil Afridi as an anti-Pakistan person. However, the whole Pakistani nation thinks that Dr Aafia is innocent and her repatriation would raise the national honor. She said the killer of many Pakistanis, Raymond Davis, had been charged of terrorism, espionage and other serious allegations but he was helped to leave Pakistani safely. She said now same designs have been formed to get Shakil Afridi released. She said if Afridi was released for “nothing other than vested interests” it would not be in the interest of the nation and country, as well as, our security agencies.
She regretted that special assistant of Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi was unnecessary eager for release of Afridi and his enthusiasm could be harmful for the national interests. She said a per some reports of media Fatemi has allegedly advised the Prime Minister not to write an official letter to the US administration for repatriation of Dr Aafia.
She appealed to the army chief General Qamar Bajwa to take notice of the issue and play his due role in repatriation of Dr Aafia Siddiqui so as to uphold the national honor. She also appealed to the leadership of the national political parties to play their due role for the release of the daughter of the nation.
Government lost golden opportunities, did not write required letter and consoled us that an exchange was underway. She said now the government is reportedly preparing to release Dr Afridi for “nothing” which is just regrettable. She said the Pakistani media, political parties and the Pak army should take notice of this matter. She said the rulers should be stopped to selling the national honor, as this is the litmus test of politician’s sincerity to Pakistanis. A door to door public campaign is started and people of Pakistan will not tolerate this sale for their own dignity and honor.
Dr Fowzia said the voters should hold accountable the ruling political parties for their failure to get Aafia released despite their previous electrical promises and refuse to vote them in the coming general elections. She said Aafia Movement Pakistan would start a nation-wide campaign if the government failed to take steps for the release of Aafia.
On the occasion, Pakistan Millat Party President Muhammad Yousuf said the Pakistani government and its embassy in Washington did not play a due role for release of Aafia Siddiqui. He said had they played their due role today Aafia would have been home.
Hafiz Muhammad Zubair, Furqan Butt, Faisal Naseer and other leaders also demanded that Dr Afridi should not be handed over to the USA till the repatriation of Dr Aafia Siddiqui.
