Breaking News: Ranil to join Gota?

Setting the tracks for political cohabitation between former Prime Minister and the sole parliamentarian of United National Party Ranil Wickremesinghe and the government of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa

by Our Political Affairs Editor

Reliable political sources say that there are preparations for a political cohabitation between Ranil Wickremesinghe and the government of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. It is said that several preliminary discussions have been held with the participation of several politicians including the Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa and the aim is to obtain the support of Mr Wickremasinghe for the present President and the government.

To be or Not to be

A top diplomatic source here affirmed on the condition of anonymity that an influential foreign diplomatic mission in Colombo is directly involved in establishing this political alliance.

Meanwhile, key players in the ruling coalition believe that Mr Wickremasinghe can play a significant role in resolving the country's deep-rooted financial crisis and strengthening weakened foreign relations. Accordingly, some in the government are of the opinion that it would be strategically important to unite Ranil Wickremesinghe with the President and assign him significant government responsibilities to counter the internal rifts.

  1. I felt Mr. President is suppose to take a very bad decision because Mr. Ranil is not the suitable person to look into crises in Sri Lanka experiencing as at now and it would have never happened if he took the correct decisions when he was in power.

  3. This is a good move,
With the current situation , specially to over come the economic crisis, all parties and their experience leaders should take part together irrespective of political agendas.

  4. Being a selfish introvert who was kicked out by the electorate and slithering into Parliament this "lost ball" will contribute towards the withering of the Pohotuwa!

  5. Mr President please don't do this to our beloved country. I have faith in you. You can overcome this crises without a loser joining you. This man entered parliament through the national list. He has a hidden agenda. I would not trust him.

  9. Looking back at history unless there is a complete revolution with new blood and patriotic representatives to the parliament Sri Lanka will remain what it has been for the past seventy odd years. Until the masses realise this we shall remain as the tear drop in the Indian Ocean.
