Brexit deal paves way for trade talks

It is the end of the beginning for UK as EU negotiators recommended “sufficient progress” has been reached. But a trade deal may still take years to formulate.

( December 8, 2017, London, Sri Lanka Guardian) Theresa May reached a deal with the EU to move forward and pave the way for trade talks which Britain had wanted since March 2017.

Talks went through the night in Brussels and a report was released this morning 8 December 2017.

The EU said it was ready to start talking about the transition deal that businesses on both sides were keen on.

It is the end of the beginning for UK as EU negotiators recommended “sufficient progress” has been reached. But a trade deal may still take years to formulate.

UK has made according to reports major concessions with no hard border between Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic.

It has also had to agree other concessions including a financial settlement of at least £35-39 billion.
